Junior Leaders - LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Materials and Methodology

What is LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Method (LSP)?

LSP is a facilitated workshop that is widely used in organizations based on "hand knowledge" approach.  Its goal is fostering creative thinking through building metaphors of organizational identities and experiences using LEGO® bricks. Participants work through imaginary scenarios using visual three-dimensional constructions and are led through a series of questions, probing deeper and more meaningful understanding into the subject. Participants will leave the workshop with increased confidence, commitment and insight.

What do we do in Junior Leaders workshop?

To develop children to become leaders, we create an environment with high trust, where their opinions be valued and encourage creative thinking to resolve problems.  The LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method is one technique we use to facilitate group problem solving. By utilizing visual, auditory and kinesthetic skills, the method requires participants to respect, learn and listen, while providing all participants with a voice.  By using the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® materials and methodology the participants will explore the relationships and connections between people and their world, observe the dynamics both internal and external, explore various hypothetical scenarios, and gain awareness of the possibilities.

Learning Focuses:

  • Unlock the potential of all the participants

  • Allow knowledge sharing and problem solving

  • Foster creative thinking and finding unique solutions

Junior Design Thinking

Design thinking is a process for creative problem solving. This process has a human-centered core. It encourages organizations to focus on the people they're creating for, which leads to better products, services, and internal processes.  During the process, the team pulls together what’s desirable from a human point of view with what is technologically feasible and economically viable. It also allows those who aren't trained as designers to use creative tools to address a vast range of challenges. The process starts with taking action and understanding the right questions. It’s about embracing simple mindset shifts and tackling problems from a new direction.

Design thinking is not only a process to invent new products, it is, in fact, an inspiring learning process that allows children to develop important life skills including:

  • Creativity

  • Win-win mindset

  • Empathic listening

  • Synergize with people

  • Persistence

  • Critical thinking

  • Problem solving

  • Communication skills

Through interactive learning, role plays and hands-on projects, the student will learn how to get insights and bring those innovative ideas into action. We aim to unlock students’ creative confidence and help them to experience a new problem solving approach.  By practicing the mindset and skills in design thinking, the students will work more effectively and be able to achieve a better outcome with other collaborators.

Coding Train Workshop provides fun and engaging opportunities for young children to explore early coding-related concepts.   Using the LEGO® Education Coding Express Set, children will intuitively use computational thinking to develop, designs and express ideas as they build a train and tracks, and position action bricks to affect the train’s behavior.  It helps students to develop their understanding of cause & effect relationships, and early coding concepts, such as sequencing, looping, and conditional statements.

Learning Focuses:

  • Sequencing

  • Looping

  • If-then statement

  • Expressing ideas

  • Making predictions

Children’s ability to understand and tell stories have strong links to their later language and literacy success.  Narrative skills are developed through storytelling and creating visual stories.

Throughout the week, teachers will work with the children to:

1. Build the popup book using LEGO® bricks

2. Sharing their favorite stories

3. Create their stories in scenes

4. Build the setting in the popup book

5. Practice storytelling

6. Final presentation

Why learning with us:

1. Think by hands - children will go through a mind digging process through

    building the setting and plot.

2. Children will not only create the story verbally, but also build the story into a

real book and write the script.

3. Children will bring home their personalized popup book for this memorable experience.

Why We Teach Cooking Children who can cook develop confidence, self-assurance and a greater understanding of the world in various ways. Children also want to be independent. They want to feel validated. When people enjoy the food they cook, their confidence grows. Cooking is an amazing way of bringing children education into action! They measure, calculate the amount of ingredients, solve problems, read and remember the steps. They are hands-on doing it rather than just learning it from books. It makes it more meaningful to them. Children who cook will better understand the amount of time and effort that is needed to prepare a meal.  Cooking will also help them to become more grateful and respectful.

Learning Focus:

  • Food Nutrition

  • Safety for Cooking
